22nd annual ITA Coaches Convention
Annual meetings
took place on December 14-17. The 2006 Wilson/ITA Coaches of
the Year were honored on December 15.

Upon our request last month, the ITA has
received clarification of the interpretation of NCAA Div. I Bylaw
17.26.5 "Tennis Dates of Competition" provided in the NCAA Educational
Column published on October 26, 2006.

McKinley appointed Chair of USTA Collegiate Committee
ITA Hall of Fame member Bob McKinley will become Chair of the
USTA Collegiate Committee starting in January. McKinley takes over the
role for Jon Vegosen, who is now on the USTA's Board of Directors.

USTA awards grants for Tennis on Campus and Community Outreach Programs
Nearly $40,000 in funding provided by the USTA will be distributed to
Tennis On Campus and Community Outreach programs being administered by
ITA-member schools this Fall.

Champs crowned at 2006 ITA National Summer Championships
The 2006 ITA National Summer Championships presented by the USTA took
place at Indiana University August 12-15. Pictured are Purdue and
Tulsa's doubles finalists.

Another participation record for ITA Collegiate Summer Circuit
A record 2,624 players participated in ITA Collegiate Summer Circuit
events this year, breaking the record of 2,465 set just last year. Over
20,000 men and women have competed in circuit events since it began in
1993. Special thanks to Circuit Director Lin Loring and the 23
tournament directors for all of their great work!

Summer Collegiate Team Announced
The USTA announced that twelve of
the nation's top men's and women's collegiate tennis players have been
named to the 2006 USTA Summer Collegiate Team, administered by the USTA
and the ITA.

ITA National Players of the Year, Doubles Teams of the Year announced
UCLA's Benjamin Kohlloeffel
and Miami's (Fla.) Audra Cohen have been named the 2006 ITA National
Players of the Year and Illinois' Kevin Anderson and Ryan Rowe and
Stanford's Alice Barnes and Anne Yelsey are the ITA National Doubles
Teams of the Year. More

headlines 2006 ITA Men's
Collegiate Hall of Fame induction ceremonies
The ITA will inducted nine new members into its
Men's Collegiate Tennis Hall of Fame during this month's NCAA
Championships at Stanford University on May 24. The Class of 2006
consists of coaches Dick Gould (Stanford) and Bill Wright (California
and Arizona), and players Jeff Borowiak (UCLA), Tom Edlefsen (Southern
California), Dan Goldie (Stanford), Matt Mitchell (Stanford), Jared
Palmer (Stanford), Richey Reneberg (SMU) and Ferdie Taygan (UCLA).

Sportsmanship Awards
The University of Colorado women's and Denison University
men's tennis teams have been honored as the recipients of the ITA National
Team Sportsmanship Award for the month of April.

Collegiate Wheelchair Tennis Championships
This year's event was hosted by Northwestern State University in
Natchitoches, Louisiana, March 17-19. LSU sophomore Shane Theriot (r)
captured this year's singles title, beating Middle Tennessee's Kevin
Green in the final. Despite several rain delays, the 2006 event was
again a great success for the collegiate wheelchair tennis program.
Fila Cup Alumni Doubles Challenge
The Fila Cup is a pilot program that targets avid varsity and recreational
collegiate tennis alumni from across the country. This spring's inaugural
event was played April 1-2 during
the NASDAQ-100 Open Championships in Key Biscayne. Pictured (l-r) women's

ITA Division III Men's National Team Indoor
Championships
Host
Gustavus Adolphus beat UC-Santa Cruz in the February 26 final to capture the
2006 championship.
This year's field featured: UC-Santa Cruz, Emory, Gustavus, Trinity (TX),
Kalamazoo, Pacific Lutheran, DePauw and Cal Lutheran. 2004-05 champ Emory
claimed third place.

USTA-ITA National Men's Team Indoor Championships
Sixteen of the top programs in the nation gathered in Seattle Feb. 17-20.
The University of Washington was hosting for the fourth time since 1999 at
the Nordstrom Tennis Center and Seattle Tennis Club. Georgia beat Pepperdine
4-0 in the final.

2006 USTA-ITA National Women's Team Indoor Championships
Sixteen of the top programs in the nation gathered in Madison Feb. 2-5.
Top-ranked Stanford beat Texas in the final to win a record third straight title.
